Meet Anthony

Anthony Henkel for Board of Educaiton

Anthony Henkel is a lifelong Deer Parker who has a passion for giving back to his community. Born and raised in Deer Park, he knows firsthand what issues parents, students, and teachers face in our education system. Anthony graduated from Deer Park High School in 2017 after attending the district since pre-school. In 2018, he graduated with honors from Suffolk County Community College, a program he started as a high school junior through the early college program. At only age 19, Anthony graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a Bachelor's degree. Anthony Henkel wishes to continue to give back to the community that granted him so many opportunities by serving on the Board of Education for Deer Park.

Who is Anthony Henkel

While attending school in Deer Park, Anthony found it vital to be involved in after school activities that helped him grow as a student, and as a person. Early on, Anthony saw value in supporting the Deer Park Community Center’s and participated in community events where he learned leadership skills and helped raise money for the center. He also participated in DECA, and was editor-in-chief of the Yearbook where he learned business skills, and how to meet deadlines. He was in the National Honor Society where he did volunteer work and helped tutor other students in the district. Anthony has a passion for theatre and participated in many of Deer Parks great plays and musicals. He values and appreciates his time in the theatre and music programs that Deer Park offered him since 2nd grade. Whether he was on stage, or off. Theatre taught him to break out of his shell, hone public speaking skills, and to work with others towards a common goal.

How do I Vote for Anthony Henkel

Before graduating high school, he started working for Van Heusen, a retail store in Tanger Outlets. After graduating from high school, Anthony got a second job at Sunglass Hut. Upon graduation of college, Anthony has started working full time in the private sector, but continues to be involved in the Deer Park community by joining Deer Park Arts Council as a board member and through work with the Long Island Coalition Against Bullying. With YOUR help, Anthony will give a voice to the Deer Park community and improve the education experience for all students, and stakeholders in the process.

Anthony is proud to accept LICAB's endorsement. LICAB and Anthony agree that bullying needs to be addressed. We feel that no student should be afraid to go to school out of a fear of being bullied.

Anthony Henkel is proud to accept DPAC's endorsement. Being a 'theatre kid' in school taught Anthony valuable lessons that led to his development. He is a fierce advocate for art, music, and theatre education.
